Have a Magical Butter Morning: Why a lightly infused smoothie is the perfect way to start your day

We’ve all heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but why? For me, my first 2 morning hours decide my mood, creativity, and ambition for the rest of the day so I try to maximize my mornings and let the momentum run. So how do I get the most out of my mornings? I rely on a simple to make smoothie with fresh, healthy ingredients that gives me the energy I’m after and the nutrients I need.

I start my day with some sort of physical activity, it’s a great way to stimulate the mind while strengthening body. I do my best to alternate between circuit training and light cardio, also known as walking.

On circuit training days it’s important to replenish with a smoothie that’s more like a protein shake. I’ll drink water throughout the routine, but when I get done I’m all about that smoothie. The post-exercise endorphins mixed with cannabis makes me feel like I can take on the world. I also get a kick out of defying stoner stereotypes by completing an early workout before most roll out of bed.

Post workout smoothie

  • 3 scoops hemp protein
  • 2 tbsp dry organic peanut butter
  • 1 tsp Magical Butter infused Coconut Oil
  • 1.5 frozen bananas
  • 8oz Chocolate Almond Milk
  • Add ice or water depending on consistency preference

This smoothie not only tastes fantastic, it also provides enough protein, healthy fats, and non processed carbs to keep me energized and satiated well into the afternoon. The minimal amount of cannabis oil doesn’t leave me feeling high, it’s more of a calm feeling that let’s me maintain focus while quieting any muscle soreness or joint pain.

On light cardio days, I start a little earlier, and by that I mean that I make an infused smoothie immediately after waking up. It’s tough to beat a tasty beverage and a nice walk, so that’s how I spend my mornings on recovery days. Typically, I’ll put on a podcast to get the synapses firing but sometimes I just take in the sounds of nature, which is a sign the smoothie is working. Since there’s significantly less exercising on these days, the smoothie recipe reflects that by replacing some of the protein with more fruit.

Easy morning smoothie

  • 2 scoops hemp protein powder
  • 1 tsp Magical Butter infused Coconut Oil
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 8oz Vanilla Almond Milk
  • Add ice or water depending on consistency preference

Smoothies and protein shakes have been breakfast staples for years, adding a little cannabis oil only seems natural. As an alternative to the traditional wake and bake, the lightly infused smoothie has a subdued effect. It doesn’t leave my head foggy, but I’m still able to hit my creative stride and get work done.
